Tarangire National Park – The Elephant Wonderland
After a lodge breakfast, your professional safari guide collects you for the approximately 2.5-hour drive to Tarangire National Park on excellent tarmac roads. Named after the Tarangire River — the only permanent water source in the region during the dry season — this park delivers some of the most concentrated and dramatic wildlife viewing in Tanzania. Ancient baobab trees, some believed to be over 1,000 years old, tower above herds of elephants moving between the river and the grasslands. Lions and leopards patrol the riverine forest, while more than 550 bird species fill the trees and skies. Giraffes, zebras, bushbuck, and hartebeest graze the savannah. A picnic lunch at a designated site inside the park keeps the magic alive before your afternoon drive and transfer to your lodge.

Lake Manyara National Park – Walking Safari & Game Drive
Today combines two unforgettable ways to experience the African wilderness — a traditional game drive and an exhilarating walking safari in Lake Manyara National Park. The park is both one of the smallest and most diverse in Africa, nestled between the towering Great Rift Valley escarpment and the shimmering shores of the alkaline lake. On foot with your armed ranger guide, you engage all your senses — tracking animal spoor, identifying bird calls, and observing the micro-ecology of the forest floor. Back in the vehicle, you scan the treetops for the park's famous tree-climbing lions, watch elephant families move through the evergreen forest, and observe flamingo flocks turning the lake's edge pink.

Through Ngorongoro Highlands to the Serengeti
After breakfast, your journey climbs into the cool, mist-shrouded highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. A dramatic stop at the Ngorongoro Crater rim unveils one of the world's great natural vistas — an ancient caldera that stretches 260 square kilometres below, its floor teeming with wildlife. The view alone is worth the journey. From here, you descend the western slopes and enter the iconic Serengeti National Park through its southern sector, where open grasslands stretch uninterrupted to every horizon. A picnic lunch inside the park provides your first true Serengeti experience as wildlife surrounds you. Settle into your luxury Four Seasons Safari Lodge for the evening — the Serengeti is now your home for the next two nights.

Serengeti National Park – Full Day in a Wildlife Paradise
An entire magnificent day in the Serengeti is yours to design. Choose between an early-morning game drive when lions make their final hunts and cheetahs are most active, a full-day expedition with picnic lunch deep in the park, or a combination of morning and afternoon drives with a midday lodge retreat by the pool. The Serengeti's extraordinary diversity means every drive is unique — herds of wildebeest and zebra roll across the plains, hippos bask in the pools, and impalas flee the charge of a hunting cheetah. Leopards rest in sausage trees, buffalo herds raise dust on the horizon, and almost 500 bird species fill the air. Tomorrow's balloon safari means an early night and a pre-dawn awakening for the most extraordinary experience of your life.

Serengeti Hot Air Balloon Safari & Journey to Ngorongoro
Before the first light of dawn, you board your hot air balloon basket as the Serengeti stirs below. As the balloon rises silently into the morning sky, the golden sun emerges over the horizon, illuminating the plains in extraordinary light. Below you, elephants move through the acacia woodland, wildebeest herds drift like rivers across the grasslands, and lions return from the night's hunt. After approximately one hour of pure magic in the sky, you land for a traditional champagne breakfast served in the bush — an extraordinary celebration. The morning continues with a final Serengeti game drive before transferring to the iconic Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Arrive at your rim lodge in time for a breathtaking crater-view sundowner.

Ngorongoro Crater Descent & Transfer to Arusha
Your final safari morning begins before dawn as you descend the towering crater walls into the Ngorongoro caldera — one of Africa's most legendary wildlife arenas. The crater floor supports an extraordinary resident wildlife population: rare black rhinoceros graze in the open grasslands, enormous tusked elephants lumber between the forest and swamp, and lion prides patrol their ancient territories. Flamingo colonies paint the soda lake pink while golden eagles soar overhead. A beautiful picnic lunch by the hippo pool caps off a morning of extraordinary sightings. After a final game drive, ascend the crater and transfer to Arusha Town, Arusha Airport, or Kilimanjaro International Airport — your Lion King Adventures safari concluded in the finest style.

+255 787 MAASAI-1Essential Safari FAQ
What does the hot air balloon safari include?
The hot air balloon safari includes approximately one hour of flight over the Serengeti at sunrise, followed by a traditional champagne breakfast in the bush. A certificate of flight is presented to all participants. The experience is included in this package's tour price.
What is a walking safari and is it safe?
A walking safari is a guided bush walk led by an experienced, licensed, and armed ranger. You explore Lake Manyara's ecosystems on foot, tracking animals and learning to read the bush. Walking safaris are exceptionally safe — rangers are fully trained in wildlife behavior and guest safety protocols.
How early does the hot air balloon launch?
Balloon safaris launch before dawn — typically around 5:30–6:00 am — to catch the iconic African sunrise. Your lodge will provide an early morning wake-up call and a pre-flight snack. The champagne breakfast after landing usually concludes by 9:30 am.
Is the Gran Meliá Arusha hotel centrally located?
Yes, the Gran Meliá Arusha is located in the heart of Arusha city, close to safari offices, cultural sites, and restaurants. It offers world-class amenities, including multiple dining venues, a pool, spa, and gymnasium — an ideal base for your pre-safari night.
What if I have a fear of heights for the balloon safari?
Many guests with mild height concerns find the balloon experience surprisingly comfortable, as the basket is stable and the ascent is gentle. However, those with significant acrophobia may prefer to substitute the balloon with an additional Serengeti game drive at no additional cost. Please inform us at booking.
