Where exactly is Olkambe Simba Lodge located?
Olkambe Simba Lodge is located inside Tarangire National Park in northern Tanzania, within the Manyara Region. GPS coordinates are approximately 3°50'25" S, 35°57'14" E. The lodge is accessible via the Tarangire main gate or Sangaiwe gate, roughly 120 km (2.5–3 hours by road) from Arusha.
How many rooms does Olkambe Simba Lodge have?
The lodge features ten spacious and well-appointed rooms, making it an intimate and exclusive bush experience. Room categories include single and double/twin configurations, with the option of triple occupancy on request.
What meals are included in the room rate?
All accommodation rates are on a Full Board basis, which includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, water, tea, and coffee. An optional Drinks Supplement (US$30 per person per day) covers soft drinks, local beers, and house wines, creating a near all-inclusive package.
Is the lodge fully all-inclusive?
The lodge operates on Full Board rather than a strict all-inclusive basis. However, adding the Drinks Supplement (US$30 pp/day) covers most daily beverages, giving guests a comprehensive experience. Spirits, bottled wines, and activities such as game drives and park fees are billed separately.
What activities are available at Olkambe Simba Lodge?
Guests can enjoy guided morning and afternoon game drives through Tarangire National Park, bird watching, bush breakfasts, picnic lunches in the field, sundowner experiences, nature walks in buffer zones, and cultural village visits. What wildlife can I expect to see at Tarangire National Park?
Tarangire is famous for one of Africa's largest elephant concentrations, especially during the dry season (June–October). Resident wildlife includes lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalos, warthogs, and over 550 bird species. Olkambe's location inside the park gives guests exceptional proximity to wildlife.
When is the best time to visit Olkambe Simba Lodge?
The dry season from June to October is considered the peak season for wildlife viewing in Tarangire, as animals congregate around the Tarangire River and water sources. However, the park is rewarding year-round; the wet season (November–May) brings lush scenery, excellent birdlife, and newborn animals.
How do I get to Olkambe Simba Lodge?
By road from Arusha, the journey takes approximately 2.5–3 hours (120 km) in a 4WD safari vehicle. By air, guests can charter or book scheduled flights to Kuro Airstrip within Tarangire National Park, followed by a short game drive transfer to the lodge. Maasai African Guides DMC can arrange all transfers and logistics.
Are children welcome at the lodge?
Yes, children aged 6 and above are welcome. Children aged 5–12 sharing a room with an adult are charged 50% of the adult rate; children aged 13–16 sharing are charged 75%. Children aged 13–16 in their own room pay the full adult rate. The lodge regrets that it is unable to accommodate children aged 5 and under.
Is the lodge environmentally friendly?
Yes. Olkambe Simba Lodge runs entirely on solar power for electricity and water heating, practices environmentally responsible waste management, and maintains a cooperative relationship with Tarangire National Park rangers to protect the surrounding ecosystem. Simba Portfolio has also installed a community borehole providing free clean water to local villages.
Is there Wi-Fi at the lodge?
Complimentary Wi-Fi is available in the common areas (lounge, bar, dining area, and pool deck). Connectivity in remote bush lodges may be limited compared to urban settings, so guests should plan accordingly for work-from-lodge requirements
What is the cancellation and booking policy?
Booking and cancellation terms are governed by Simba Portfolio Lodges' standard conditions. Guests are advised to review these at the time of reservation or contact the lodge directly. Travel insurance is strongly recommended and is the responsibility of the guest.
Can the lodge host honeymoons or special occasions?
Absolutely. Simba Portfolio offers dedicated honeymoon packages with specially decorated rooms, complimentary fruit baskets on arrival, and sparkling wine for stays of two or more nights. Advance notification at the time of booking ensures all special touches are prepared.
