Common Enquiries
Is Chobe Safari Lodge in Entebbe?
No. Many travelers search for it this way because they start their journey in Entebbe. The lodge is actually about 280 km North of Entebbe in Murchison Falls National Park. However, because it has its own private airstrip, you can fly from Entebbe directly to the lodge in about 60 minutes.
Can I see Murchison Falls from the lodge?
No. The actual waterfall is about a 1.5 to 2-hour game drive (or a scenic boat cruise) away. Chobe is located in a quieter, more exclusive section of the park known for its rapids and high concentrations of elephants and giraffes.
Is it safe to swim in the pool with the Nile so close?
Absolutely. The pool is elevated and completely separate from the river. While you can watch hippos and crocodiles in the Nile from your sun lounger, they cannot get anywhere near the pool area.
Is this a good spot for fishing?
Chobe is world-famous for Nile Perch fishing. The lodge is located at a section of the river where the current is strong and the fish are plentiful. They offer professional fishing guides and equipment for hire (catch and release is encouraged).
How is the wildlife viewing at Chobe?
It is exceptional. Because Chobe is in the Northern sector (the savannah side), you don't need to cross the river by ferry to see the big game. Lions, leopards, elephants, and Rothschild giraffes are frequently spotted on game drives starting directly from the lodge gate.
