Common Enquiries
Is this the best lodge for seeing rhinos in Nakuru?
Yes. Lake Nakuru National Park is a dedicated Rhino Sanctuary. Because Sarova Lion Hill is centrally located on the hill, your game drives start in the prime grazing areas for both Black and White rhinos. It is one of the few places in East Africa where rhino sightings are nearly guaranteed.
Is the pool really heated?
Yes. Because Lake Nakuru is at a higher altitude, the air can be quite cool in the mornings and evenings. The heated pool is a signature feature of Sarova properties, making it comfortable for a swim at any time of day in 2026.
Are there many mosquitoes?
Being near a lake, mosquitoes are present, especially at dusk. However, the lodge provides mosquito nets in all rooms and conducts regular "fogging" of the grounds. It is still recommended to use the provided repellent and wear long sleeves during evening dinner.
Can I see flamingos from the lodge?
While you can see the "pink line" of flamingos on the lake from the lodge's decks, you will need a pair of binoculars for a detailed view. To get close, you simply take a 5-minute game drive down to the lakeshore.
Is the lodge family-friendly?
Extremely. Sarova is well-known for its "Ozone Kids Club," which offers supervised activities for children. The buffet also features kid-friendly options, and the enclosed nature of the lodge grounds makes it feel very safe for families.
