The Experience

Tarangire Treetops is one of East Africa’s most imaginative lodges. The "rooms" are actually luxury suites built into the canopy of giant Baobab and Marula trees. Each elevated suite features an open-fronted design with a massive private deck, offering sweeping views of the Tarangire plains. Because it is located in a private concession, the lodge offers unique activities like night game drives and walking safaris that aren't permitted inside the main park.

Is the lodge actually inside Tarangire National Park?

Technically, it is in the Randilen Wildlife Management Area (WMA), which borders the park. This is an advantage because animals move freely between the two, but being in a private WMA allows for activities like night drives and walking safaris.

Are the rooms open to the wildlife?

The suites have an open-fronted design to maximize views, but they are very high off the ground, ensuring safety from large predators. They also have heavy-duty canvas and screens to secure the room at night.

Can we see elephants from the lodge?

Yes! The lodge is built next to a permanent waterhole. It is very common to see herds of elephants drinking just yards away while you are sitting in the lounge or swimming in the pool.

Do you have family rooms?

While there isn't a specific "family unit," the suites are large enough to add an extra bed for a child, and the lodge is very welcoming to families with children aged 5 and up.
