16 Days Uganda and Tanzania Road Trip

16 days unforgettable African safari tour will take you to the Ngorongoro Crater, featuring one of the highest concentrations of game in Africa. Here you will witness an amazing spectacle of African wildlife – inside a self-contained world, teeming with animals. Your tour will also take you to the Lake Manyara National Park, one of Tanzania’s most dramatically located wildlife areas, consisting of a shallow but huge soda lake with over 300 migratory birds flamingo & long-crested eagle. The size of both the selected Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro Crater make them a perfect choice for our shorter safaris, or photographic safaris. The Tarangire  park runs along the line of the Tarangire River and is mainly made up of low-lying hills on the Great Rift Valley floor. Its natural vegetation mainly consists of Acacia woodland and giant African Baobab trees, with huge swamp areas in the south. Both the river and the swamps act like a magnet for wild animals, during Tanzania’s dry season. Visit Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to almost a half of the endangered mountain gorillas and is the only place in the world where wild chimpanzees co-exist with mountain gorillas and Queen Elizabeth National park in Uganda.

Immerse yourself in authentic Maasai culture as you visit a traditional village, accompanied by an English-speaking guide who lives there himself. Find yourself in the midst of the daily hustle and bustle of local life as you witness the daily rituals of the Maasai. Once you have drunk your fill of this authentic cultural experience, you can choose to browse through the Maasai Craft Centre and purchase artefacts made by the people you encountered. All proceeds from this go directly to the community. Living a semi-nomadic lifestyle, the Maasai tribe has modernised in some ways but still adheres to many aspects of their traditional culture. Established as fierce warriors, their lively cultural dance, vibrant clothing and beautifully crafted handiwork are recognised worldwide. The Maasai used to move nomadically with their herds to abundant lush pastures but these days they have built permanent huts or bomas and prefer to stay in once place. They are pastoralists cattle is essential to their way of life. A man’s success is measured by the number of cattle and offspring he has. As great a status and show of wealth the cattle are, they are also a vital food source. This glimpse of authentic Maasai culture is a fascinating experience of an ancient way of life that still flourishes today.

Visit the nimble Hadzabe Bushmen sidestep through the trees, picking up on every clue as they stalk a small antelope. You can also see the clues; an upturned stone, a line of animal droppings, a slight indent in the grass. But the bushman spots them without breaking stride, eyes always scanning ahead, the path of the prey continually visualized. On day eight you’ll head out on a morning hunt, a haunting experience that reveals the phenomenal skills of these ancient people. And yes, they do still use a homemade bow and arrow.

This is a place of tranquility, harmony, and getting involved with local tribes. The Hadzape

hunter-gatherers use an ancient click dialect, while the waDatonga villages remain unchanged for

millennia.

Great Safari with Joel We had Joel as our guide, and he really made sure we had a great experience during our safari. We visited the Ngorogoro crater & Serengeti and were lucky to even catch a lion with her cubs. Unique experience with a great guide that always made us feel safe and answered happily a lot of questions about all the animals, Tanzania and the massai. Highly recommended! Asante sana!

From arrival to departure, we felt very well taken care of by both the trekking team led by guide Shambani and Charles’ team in Arusha. I highly recommend Maasai African Guides to anyone interested in taking up the challenge of climbing Kilimanjaro or looking to explore the Arusha area.

Charles - amazing guide and person Charles was our driver and guide at our 30th anniversary 10 days trip to Tanzania. He is experienced, reliable, knowledgeable, a pleasant-mannered person, great to have conversations with. A rare combination of a field man and a certified tour guide. Took care of us from the moment we arrived until returning to the airport at the end of the trip. Patiently answered all our questions (and we had a lot...). Charles was highly motivated to find animals and bring us to them up close, to arrive at the right moment to the great Gnu crossing the Mara River and in general to respond to every request we had. Highly recommended????
